About Professor Morris

Charles J. Morris,: a recognized authority on labor law, has authored numerous books and articles. His work has included: introduction of substantive NLRB rulemaking, affecting discipline-assistance for nonunion employees, affecting a major decision on company-unionism, increasing injunctions for union discharges, authoring a book on members-only collective bargaining and providing for its legal representation, and initiating new NLRB rule on workplace notice-posting and contributing to its legal defense. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 1948, practiced law in Dallas until 1967, and thereafter was Professor at SMU’s Dedman School of Law until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 1991. His career included visiting professorships at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, Cornell University’s Schools of Law and Industrial and Labor Relations, and University of San Diego Law School. He has been a labor arbitrator since 1968 and has written extensively in that field. From 1978 until 1983 he was a Presidential appointee on Federal Services Impasses Panel. He resides in San Diego, California, and continues to write, lecture, and provide representation and consultation.
